D2A East Power Rankings – Week 1
D2A East
Plenty of old faces in D2A this season are chomping at the bit to go and get promoted to D1. After this long, we can only hope they get over the line and get to the hardest division in all of American Pro Clubs.
1.Olympique
A great start to the season for Olympique with a perfect 12 out of 12 points. The attack was always going to put up incredible scoring numbers, but just need the consistency to match it across the season. Is this finally the season they get out of D2 purgatory?
2.NB Rovers FC
The most surprising playoff loser last season. NB Rovers dominated almost all season and got knocked out of the playoffs extremely early. However, they have taken that as motivation and also sit on 12 points with only 1 goal conceded. It will be a battle between them and Olympique to go all the way this season.
3.Nosubogordas
A team that has been around for ages but bounces in and out of ACL, it’s great to see them back and excelling. 10 points in 4 games is a great start and we would expect them to be in a top 4 seed come playoff time.
4.Deportivo Lara
Deportivo Lara and fast starts are a match made in heaven, picking up 9 points of their first possible 12. Can they find the consistency to keep this going all season and avoid an early playoff exit?
5.Mallorca FC
One thing to note about D2A is that every team outside of the top 3 have a +1 or worse goal differential. Every game is a complete tossup and will favor the lucky teams this season. As it stands, Mallorca have scored 10 goals but have conceded 9 and are on 7 points to start out. Is their form sustainable?
6.Marabinos FC
The final team in the top 8 with a non-negative goal differential, Marabinos also find themselves on 7 points. Their attack is strong, but their defense needs significant work if they are going to find luck this season.
7.London Cowboys
Giving London Cowboys a huge boost here for these various reasons: their past successes in the league, their +1 goal differential, and the extremely wide-known issues with PC Players in this game cycle. With EA promising to fix this, games should start going their way.
8.GG United
One of the weirder starts to a season. GG United was a playoff team last season and had to forfeit their first two games of the season due to an issue with the manager. This team will definitely find their way into the top 8 so long as their manager doesn’t go off the grid again.
9.Sips FC
Another beneficiary of the power rankings, Sips FC are in 11th place with only a -1 goal differential. This team also has tons of experience and should be right around the bottom playoff seeds by the end of the season.
10.Hated Eleven
At 6 points, Hated Eleven find themselves in 7th place. With 7 goals scored, they have the best attacking output of any of the teams with 6 points, but also need to find ways to improve their defense this season. They look the most likely to break out of this logjam and claim a top 8 spot.
11.Nemesis XI
The final team in the top 8 based off a tie breaker, they hold this spot in the power rankings almost exclusively due to their experience. They have more experience than pretty much any roster in D2 and should find their footing soon.
12.All Star GT
One of the other teams on 6 points, All Star GT holds a -2 goal differential and needs to find a way to more consistently score goals if they want to find a way into the top 8.
13.Toquecitos FC
The exact same things that were mentioned for All Star GT can be applied to Toquecitos. Same goals scored, same goals conceded, same points…
14.NY Bulls
A serious fall from grace from NY Bulls. From D1 into the basement of D2, this team needs to find a turnaround quickly. Thankfully, they are keeping games close and just need some luck on their side.
15.Premier XI
Premier XI finds themselves with a league-worst 10 goals conceded and in 15th with one point. One more week at this level and the season could be over before it even began.
16.Panama FC
The only team still on 0 points, Panama FC have only scored 1 goal and conceded 7. While the season is still young, they need to start getting points asap.
