Matches of the Day – Matches 7 and 8

Matches of the Day – Matches 7 and 8

As we prepare to close out the second week of games, teams across all divisions are starting to leave their mark, while others are already lagging behind in the playoff race. Who will keep up their good form today and close out the second week of games on a high note?

D1 East:

9:30pm – Santa Muerte vs. NoHardFeelings

Yet another season in which NoHardFeelings has come flying out of the gate, securing 4 wins and a draw while only losing 1 game, while scoring the 3rd most goals. Santa Muerte begins the day in the 6 seed at .500 with a -1 goal differential. This would be a golden opportunity for Santa Muerte to show they can contend.

Prediction: NoHardFeelings wins 3-1

10:00pm – Holicz vs. Mythic

It had to be this game. 1 vs 2 in the standings in an early-season showdown of two high caliber teams. Holicz’s defense is best in the league, stifling every opponent they’ve played while Mythic and their attack is best in the league, scoring 16 goals. A potential early D1 East Final on week 2?

Prediction: Holicz wins 2-1

D1 West:

9:30pm – Eternal Legion vs. Joga Bonito

Eternal Legion just keeps producing. While first in the division, they keep defying expectations and putting top tier teams away. Joga Bonito plays a quick game and this may be something Eternal Legion hasn’t seen before. Both teams have a lot to prove in this one.

Prediction: Eternal Legion wins 3-2

10:00pm – VIKINGOS FC vs. Uncs FC

A 7v8 seed matchup with the ability for these teams to get some breathing room. Vikingos have started the season well finding themselves in a playoff position. While the Uncs haven’t had the best start, and certainly below their own expectations, I believe they’ll be ready to come out swinging in this one.

Prediction: Uncs wins 4-2

D2A:

9:30pm – XI Icon vs. Next Question

Another 1v2 matchup in D2A. XI Icon have only allowed 1 goal in 6 games, while Next Question has only allowed 4, losing only once. Can XI Icon continue their perfect start to the season in a playoff-level matchup?

Prediction: 1-1 draw

10:00pm – GG United vs. NY Bulls

A really nice turnaround to begin the season for both of these teams. While both of them missed the playoffs last season, these two teams find themselves in 3rd and 4th respectively. However, both teams are having bouts of inconsistency. On one hand, GG United have allowed 12 goals and have a 0 goal differential while NY Bulls have only scored 7 times in 6 games. Something will have to break here in order for one of these teams to get a win.

Prediction: GG United wins 3-2

D2B:

9:30pm – Samba VZ vs. Calle Futbol

A high ranking matchup to start off the night in D2B. Neither team is punishing their opposition and are running away with the division like we have seen in years past, but that won’t matter if they continue to win games at whatever cost. Samba’s attack could be the defining factor in this one.

Prediction: Samba VZ wins 3-2

10:00pm – Clobberers vs. La Mastilla

Both teams come into this game with plenty to prove, and the desire to gain 3 points to distance themselves from the rest of the playoff hopeful teams. La Mastilla have cooled off since a hot start and only have scored 7 times in 6 games, a real regression from their D3 form. Clobberers have a -1 goal differential and could stand to score a few more goals during their games.

Prediction: La Mastilla wins 2-1

D3:

9:30pm – East Clan vs. MIAMI METRO

East Clan come into this game vs MIAMI METRO as the 2 seed, and no losses. MIAMI METRO have lost a few games handily, but are getting forfeit wins. Who will win this game: the rulebook or the players?
Prediction: East Clan wins 4-1

10:00pm – 150 DREAMTEAM vs. Chopped

Even though their positions in the table don’t show it, these look to be two of the most dominant teams in the division, with only 4 goals conceded each and 10+ goals scored. These teams are real contenders, and the winner of this game will have plenty of momentum to carry forward.

Prediction: Chopped wins 3-2
