Matches of the Day – Matches 3 and 4

After a great opening night, plenty of teams will look to continue their good start, while plenty of players will look to build off great opening nights and find their way into the first team of the week. Who will continue their great start, or who will get back on track?

D1 East

9:30pm – Cooked v. Holicz

Both teams should feel pretty happy about how they started. On one end, Cooked, a newly promoted D2 team, took 3 points from Tuesday and sit in 7th place. On the other end, Holicz started incredibly, scoring 6 times in 2 games and sitting in 1st place. They look motivated this season to get back to their title-winning form from 2 seasons ago.

Prediction: 3-0 Holicz

10:00pm – Impact X v. Magic X

A repeat of last season’s West final, both teams will want to improve from how they started the season. Magic X sit in 15th while Impact managed to get 2 points. There are no easy games in D1 East, and both teams will need these points before the playoffs become too far to chase.

Prediction: Impact X wins 2-1

D1 West

9:30pm – Eternal Legion eSports v. Bazukazos

Eternal Legion eSports are showing why last season wasn’t a fluke and find themselves in 2nd after 2 games, while Bazukazos find themselves on 3 points. This should be a playoff-level matchup early in the season and both teams will absolutely want to claim all 3 points and make a real statement in the division.

Prediction: Bazukazos wins 2-1

10:00pm – Eternal Legion eSports v. Los Boyz

Double duty for Eternal Legion tonight. Los Boyz come into this game failing to pick up a single point from their first set of games, even though they would view themselves as playoff hopefuls. Expect them to gain some ground tonight and find their way into the Top 8 by night’s end.

Prediction: 2-2 Draw

D2A

9:30pm – Big Ligas FC v. Mallorca FC

Big Ligas showed their might by taking all 6 points on opening night, while Mallorca sit 7th place in the standings. Mallorca’s defense is plenty stout, but will have their hands full with Big Ligas’ attack tonight.

Prediction: Big Ligas wins 2-1

10:00pm – Olympique vs. XI Icon

A night to forget for Olympique as they went winless and face XI Icon, currently in a playoff spot. Both teams have plenty to play for with an all important 3 points having plenty of implications in the table even this early in the season. I expect a major bounceback from Olympique.

Prediction: Olympique wins 3-2

D2B

9:30pm – La Mastilla v. Unc FC

D2 Newcomers La Mastilla take on Unc FC in a 4-seed v. 2-seed battle on the second night. Neither team conceded a goal, and it goes to show how good their defenses can be. If their attacks can get firing, one of these teams have a real chance in making a deep playoff run this season.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

10:00pm – European Earthquakes v. Football IQ

The inverse of the 9:30 game, both of these playoff teams scored plenty of goals to open the season, but each allowed 3 goals in their respective matches. If these teams get their defenses dialed in, they may be an early title favorite.

Prediction: European Earthquakes wins 4-3

D3 East

9:30pm – MIAMI METRO v. 150 DREAMTEAM

Two of the best attacks face each other in an 8v9 matchup. While it’s hard to conceive that these teams with +4 goal differentials are sitting right on the cusp of playoffs, we’ve seen weirder things happen in D3 before. Thankfully, as the season progresses, these teams will continue to rise in the standings.

Prediction: MIAMI METRO wins 5-4

10:00pm – Electric Avenue v. Norex United

Another set of great attacks, Norex United sit in 7th with no goals conceded, while Electric Avenue sit in 2nd with 8 goals scored. These two teams should be considered for D3 and this should be a great preview of what’s to come between these two teams this season.

Prediction: Norex United wins 3-2
