D2B
1. Malditos Genios (clinched)
Only one of two teams to clinch so far, Malditos Genios are separating themselves at the top of D2A. Their attack has been nothing short of exceptional, bagging 84 goals across the season. If their attack keeps at that rate, they might blow every team out in the playoffs.
2. Pro Union (clinched)
The other team to clinch, Pro Union have remained around the top 2-3 seeds and will be proud of their division-best defense. They have scored the second fewest goals in the top 8, but have also conceded joint fewest. Can their defense hold up and carry them the rest of the way?
3. New Era FC
New Era remains around the top of D2A, similar to Pro Union and Malditos Genios. The former D3 champs will be hopeful to end their run in D2 this season and climb to Division 1 to start the new game cycle.
4. San Sharti CF
San Sharti CF have gotten hot and pushed themselves from 8th all the way to 5th, albeit only 2 points separate the 5 through 8 seeds. This team has risen to the occasion so far, and I fully expect them to place within the top 6 heading into the playoffs.
5. Composed XI
Composed continue their fine run of form and see themselves at 58 points this season, nearly clinching a spot in the playoffs in the process. As we saw last season, this team rises to the occasion in big games, and they may be a dark horse to win D2 this season.
6. Trojan XIX
Trojan have fallen down the table, but should still make the playoffs comfortably. Their +37 goal differential is second best in the division, and just need to be more decisive to close out games going forward.
7. Cougars SC
While in 8th in the table, Cougars SC does have a game in hand over 7th placed Dochas FC. Cougars find themselves 4 points clear of 8th with 4 games left to play. Upcoming matches against Insanity X and New Era may give cause for concern for them to get this over the line and clinch a playoff spot.
8. Dochas FC
Similar to Cougars SC, Dochas find themselves on 54 points, but with an extra game played. Their attack has been good enough to win them games, but they will need to improve on both sides of the ball for any realistic shot at a playoff run.
9. Sips FC
Sips are the closest team to stealing a playoff spot, finding themselves 4 points back of 8th place. Unfortunately, two of their games are against playoff-level opposition and will need to produce a near-miracle if they are to make the top 8.
10. S.I.N (East)
While not eliminated yet, S.I.N. has largely not been good enough this season to produce consistent results, with a near .500 record. Their defense has been a pain point all season, and if they don’t make playoffs, expect this team to go again with a much retooled team.
11. Cholos United
The final team still in playoff contention, Cholos have even less games to make up ground on the top 8 and secure a playoff spot. Their attack has let them down some this season, only scoring 37 goals along the way.
12. Samba VZ (eliminated)
While Samba VZ may be eliminated, they have had a nice second half of the season, and should look to take that momentum into the new game cycle as they gain more experience in competitive clubs play.
13. Lacritas (eliminated)
It’s odd to see a team with a +6 goal differential sitting in 13th already eliminated, but that is where Lacritas sits unfortunately. A combination of bad luck, forfeits and a leaky defence has spelled doom for them this season.
14. Insanity X (eliminated)
Almost the exact same story as Lacritas, with 1 less goal conceded and 1 less goal scored. This team will somehow find a way to go back to back seasons with a positive goal differential and miss playoffs.
15. Don’t Mata FC (eliminated)
A rough season for Don’t Mata, with their offense not hitting the levels needed to succeed. 25 goals scored in 30 games is not a recipe for success.
16. Inferno XI (eliminated)
Inferno have scored too few and conceded far too many goals to be near a playoff spot with 4 games left. Hopefully they can come back stronger next season.
17. CC FC2 (eliminated)
Folded.
18. Northmen United (eliminated)
Not sure how, but this team finished below a team that has been folded since the 3rd week even after playing significantly more games than CC FC2. Also folded.
