D2A East Power Rankings – V3
D2A
1. DANZ FC (clinched)
DANZ find themselves at the top of the table with a game in hand over each of the top 10 teams. With only a week left, they should be able to distance themselves from the rest of the field and make a deep playoff run behind both the best attack and defense in D2A.
2. Olympique (clinched)
Olympique have closed the gap quickly at the top of the table and are within 2 points of DANZ. This team is getting hot at the right time and would hope to get this season’s playoff run right after coming agonizingly close to D1 promotion the past two seasons.
3. NB Rovers FC (clinched)
While NB Rovers FC are no longer in first, they still sit in the top 2, only a point off of first. Their attack is high powered and should be the main reason behind a deep playoff run this season.
4. Tiburoneta (East) (clinched)
While Tiburoneta have regressed slightly, they still find themselves in a top 4 position and will likely at least have one home playoff series. Their defense has faltered over the past week or so, but I expect this team to pick it back up this week.
5. Punisherz (clinched)
A great second half of the season for Punisherz. While they do sit in 6th, they are one point away from clinching that spot with the potential to move up the table if they get some favorable results this week. Their ability to grind games out will be paramount to their success in the playoffs ahead.
6. Black Label FC (clinched)
Black Label have been consistently solid all season and their 5th seed in the table proves that. They would feel hard done to have 63 points and be all the way down in 5th, but that’s the consequence of an incredibly deep and talented D2A division. Their defense will need to improve slightly in the playoffs, as their 38 goals conceded are joint worst in the Top 8.
7. GG United (clinched)
The final clinched team so far, GG United will feel thankful to be in the playoffs, even after losing a couple of results on forfeits. This team is far better than their table seeding suggests, and they very well could make a few upsets in the playoffs.
8. Deportivo Lara
A very up and down season for Deportivo Lara, who once found themselves as high as 3rd on the table. Barring a catastrophic collapse, they should be able to make the playoffs in a bid to make it to Division 1. Could this finally be their season?
9. Bahia Esports
Bahia Esports will need a number of results to go their way this week, essentially needing to win out and hoping Deportivo Lara gains less than 3 points over the next four games. It just unfortunately might be too little too late for this team.
10. East Clan
While not eliminated yet, East Clan will also need every result to go their way, with Deportivo Lara not earning a single point this week, in addition to Bahia Esports and Ja Raptors losing their games this week. It is looking bleak for them.
11. Ja Raptors FC
Similar to Bahia Esports and East Clan, this team will need a miracle to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, based on their defensive record this season, that looks incredibly unlikely to happen.
12. Unc FC (eliminated)
An underwhelming season for Unc FC who just couldn’t get on track to make a playoff spot this season. Hopefully the Uncs come back refreshed and ready to go next season.
13. Invincible XI (eliminated)
Unfortunate for Invincible XI to be eliminated, but credit to them for fighting all season. Their attack unfortunately could not provide enough firepower, hitting under a goal per game on average.
14. Too Much Sauce (eliminated)
Too Much Sauce have conceded 98 goals on the season, well more than any other team and may hit the 100 conceded mark. Their defense never gave the team a chance.
15. Prosper (eliminated)
Folded.
16. OBT FC (eliminated)
Folded.
17. Highlanders FC (eliminated)
After what started as a fairly promising season, it went downhill quickly for Highlanders, who have also bowed out of the competition. Folded.
18. Damascus (eliminated)
Folded.
