D2A East

1. NB Rovers

Sitting second on the table due to Goal Difference, we are opting for NB Rovers at the top spot due to a superior defensive record. 8 goals conceded in 12 games is better than any other team in the division and opening up a 12 point gap over 9th place is no small achievement. This was a playoff team last year that took a now D1 team to the wire. Is this the season for Rovers to be the next D1 team?

2. Black Label FC

First in the table on goal difference, Black Label are in a great position to run the table and make a deep playoff run. Their 35 goals scored are best in the division and while their 14 goals conceded is most in the top 8, they are just flattening opponents with a high powered attack.

3. Tiburoneta (East)

The current West leaders sit in 3rd at 26 points. A balanced 25 goals scored and 12 goals conceded give them a comfortable +13 goal difference and are only 2 points behind the league leaders. As this team continues to play more difficult competition across both East and West, they will absolutely get better. This team could be first in at least one division come the end of the regular season.

4. Olympique

Olympique have always been right on the doorstep of D1, and elected to fight for their place through the D2 route again. They have a +23 goal differential, best in D2A. However, 4 draws means they’ve left 8 points on the table. If Olympique turns those draws into wins by being more decisive in the final moments, this team could end up with a top seed, and maybe find their way into D1.

5. DANZ FC

After coming agonizingly close to D1 in their first season back, DANZ FC are currently 4th in D2A on 25 points. There will never be an issue of scoring goals with this team, and as long as their defense matches their offense, they could be in D1 next season.

6. Punisherz

A nice rebound season from Punisherz, sitting in 6th place in the table. Their 17 goals scored is lowest of the top 8 teams, but their defense is holding up and they are finding ways to get results. This is about where they should expect to finish and be every season.

7. GG United

A playoff team last year, GG United hasn’t had the best start to the season, forfeiting at least 2 results. In spite of this, they are still in a playoff spot and have scored a respectable 19 goals. This team is better than their record suggests, that’s for sure.

8. Deportivo Lara

A longstanding team in D2, Deportivo Lara seemingly always has bouts of inconsistency that will see them fluctuate between the 3-7 seeds in any given season. At bare minimum, they are a playoff-level team. At their best, this is a near D1 level team. Which version will we get this season?

9. OBT FC

OBT FC is at the top of a logjam of teams between 13-16 points. Their -1 goal differential is the best of that lot, but scoring goals is absolutely paramount to success in D2. Once you get into the playoffs, that goes out the window, but you need to get enough points in the regular season to get to that point. Will their attack wake up in time before the playoffs become a longshot?

10. East Clan

On 15 points, East Clan is still close to a playoff spot. Their 20 goals conceded is near the most in the division, but there is plenty of time for them to right the ship.

11. Invincible XI

Invincible has almost the exact same stats as East Clan, with 1 more point, but 1 less goal scored. They have also conceded 20 goals and fall into the same boat of needing to fix their defense to make a meaningful charge up the table.

12. Unc FC

On one hand, 12 goals conceded is tied for 6th best in the division. On the other hand, 9 goals scored is 3rd worst in the division. Every game is close for this team, and hopefully the Uncs can rely on their experience to close the gap on the playoff teams going forward.

13. Prosper

Prosper has a -5 goal differential and has scored 12 goals. They are a result of playing in a brutal D2 slate, where these stats could put you a little higher up the table than what they are currently.

14. Bahia eSports

Bahia somehow have a 0 Goal Difference, even though they are sitting in 14th place, with 17 goals scored and conceded. Seemingly, they lose close games but have potential to blow teams out. Usually, these kinds of teams find their way up the table, but it remains to be seen how good this team actually is.

15. JA Raptors FC

33 goals conceded is 2nd worst in the division, but they have managed to get results in 5/12 games this season. While only 6 points away from the playoffs at this point, their defense needs to get in order before this season is essentially over for them.

16. Too Much Sauce

Their 39 goals conceded is worst in the division, but also have managed to get results in 5/12 games. It’s hard to believe their defense regressed this much between seasons, but it’s apparent an upgrade is needed there.

17. Highlanders FC

After making it close to the playoffs last season, Highlanders find themselves in 2nd to last place with a -23 goal difference. Their manager will do whatever it takes to get results, including signing and releasing various players to find the best XI possible. I have faith this team will improve over the season and get some more results.

18. Damascus
