D1 East Semifinals Predictions
After an incredible first round of playoffs, there are 4 teams left in the Division 1 East Playoffs. Every single matchup turned out to be an upset with the lower seed winning against their opponent. With only one matchup left until the East finals, who will continue their cinderella run and play the eventual West champions in a battle for the trophy?
A look at the playoff teams:
1 – NoHardFeelings, eliminated
2 – Virtual Talent, eliminated
3 – Patience, eliminated
4 – Los Plebes, eliminated
5 – LA United, Won 5-1 on aggregate over Los Plebes
6 – Most Hated, Won in penalties over Patience
7 – Galacticos, Won 2-0 on aggregate over Virtual Talent
8 – Fatal XI, Won 4-3 on aggregate over NoHardFeelings
Biggest Surprise: All of them?
This is the first time we have seen every single lower seed win in the first round in either side of Division 1. Fatal XI took down the seemingly unstoppable NoHardFeelings, Galacticos blanked the high-scoring Virtual Talent, Most Hated grinded out a win against Patience and LA United continued their fine form and obliterated Los Plebes to advance.
Favorite Matchup: Fatal XI vs LA United
For the second time in recent memory, Fatal XI has entered as the 8th seed and knocked off the 1 seed. The last time this happened, Fatal took that momentum and won the Division 1 combined title. LA United has been on an incredible run as of late, going from just outside of the playoffs before the final week, to making it as a 5 seed and now making it to the semi-finals. This game should be incredibly interesting.
Matchups:
8 Fatal XI vs 5 LA United:
Fatal and LA United both have incredible amounts of experience on their teams, and this is certainly not their first times in these types of situations. The usually defensively stout Fatal is coming a white-hot LA United attack, which was their achilles heel earlier in the season. This game should be very close.
Prediction: LA United wins 4-3 on aggregate
7 Galacticos vs 6 Most Hated:
Galacticos have easily been the most surprising team this season, going from supposed relegation fight into the D1 East semifinals. Most Hated are back where they like to see themselves after a season off. This game should be a defensive slugfest.
Prediction: Most Hated wins 3-1 on aggregate
