D1 East Playoff Predictions – Round 2

 

After an exciting first round, we now move into the East Semifinals where the final 4 teams will look to move one step closer to the East Final and a chance at the Grand D1 Unified prize. Let’s look at the teams still remaining:

 

1. Holicz – Won 1-0 over Santa Muerte
2. NoHardFeelings – Won 3-1 over Impact X
3. LA United – Won 4-1 over Prolific
4. Fatal XI – Eliminated
5. Virtual Talent -Won 2-1 over Fatal XI
6. Prolific – Eliminated
7. Impact X – Eliminated
8. Santa Muerte – Eliminated

 

Holicz (1) vs. Virtual Talent (5)

Both teams will be happy to move on to the next round with narrow 1 goal victories over their opponents. Holicz should feel good about shutting out their opponent over both games, while Virtual Talent’s defense held up well enough to shut down Fatal. I expect this to be a higher scoring affair than the 3 goals these teams put up combined over 4 games.

Prediction: Virtual Talent wins 4-3

 

NoHardFeelings (2) vs. LA United (3)

Unlike Holicz and Virtual Talent, both teams comfortably beat their opposition in the first round. NoHardFeelings are showing they are ready to take the next step, while LA United is proving their playoff success last season was nowhere near a fluke. LA United’s offense should come through even more now that they’ve got the first round jitters out.

Prediction: LA United wins 5-3
