D1 East Playoff Predictions

After 34 long games, the final 8 teams have been decided and will do battle to win the east division and have a shot at the grand final. There’s plenty of strong teams and any team can beat anyone on their day. Let’s review the top 8 teams:

  1. Holicz – 71 points
  2. NoHardFeelings – 69 points
  3. LA United – 69 points
  4. Fatal XI – 69 points
  5. Virtual Talent – 66 points
  6. Prolific – 58 points
  7. Impact X – 58 points
  8. Santa Muerte – 55 points

Holicz (1) vs. Santa Muerte (8)

A strong season has Holicz among the title favorites, while Santa Muerte had to go to the very final day to clinch a playoff spot. Holicz had one of the best offenses and defenses, while Santa Muerte had one of the weaker attacks and defenses relative to the top 8.

Prediction: Holicz wins 4-1

NoHardFeelings (2) vs. Impact X (7)

NoHardFeelings will be remiss to not be the top seed, having a shot up until the final day to clinch that spot, while Impact X should feel very fortunate to be in the playoffs. Their +6 Goal Difference is the worst among the top 8 and are not in a particularly great run of form heading into the playoffs.

Prediction: NoHardFeelings wins 6-2

LA United (3) vs. Prolific (6)

LA United will look to repeat this season and face Prolific in their first season back in ACL in some time. Unlike last year, LA United have a high powered offense and will look to have them carry the defense along for a deep playoff run. They face an exceptional Prolific defense who are on a great run of form recently.

Prediction: LA United wins 3-2

Fatal XI (4) vs. Virtual Talent (5)

Fatal once again find themselves in a middle seed in a heavyweight bout between two recent champions. A top-tier attack in Virtual Talent faces a top-tier defense in Fatal XI. Fatal will need their defense to get them over the line here.

Prediction: Fatal wins 4-3 over 3 games
