D1 East Power Rankings – Week 1

D1 East

After a week played, there is already a clear division among the top teams and the lesser teams in the division. Can any team outside of the bottom 8 pick up form, or is it already too late?

1. Envious

An impressive first week sees Envious at the top of the table with a perfect record, the most goals scored, and the fewest conceded. If they can keep this pace up they could go all the way and look like an early title contender

2. Ackerman FC

The other team on perfect 12/12 points, Ackerman has had a great start to the season also. With a blend of former Fatal and Most Hated players, this team has experience by the bunch and should keep pace with the top teams of the East.

3. NoHardFeelings

NoHardFeelings have been outstanding in the regular season the past few seasons, and it looks like this is no exception, grabbing 9 out of a possible 12 points to start the season. Their biggest question will always remain if they can get it done in the playoffs. Is this finally the season?

4. Buona Notte

Buona Notte significantly overhauled their roster and have put up the second most goals in the first four games. However, for all their attacking prowess, they have conceded 6 goals, most in the top 8. They will need to find defensive consistency if they are to have a real shot at going far this season.

5. CSD Agua Viva

A new team to ACL, CSD Agua Viva has plenty of players with experience at the highest level. They have started strong with 7 points in the first four with a respectable +5 Goal Differential. I am giving them the slight nod over Santa Muerte and Viva Futbol due to their strength of schedule so far.

6. Holicz

While in 4th place, Holicz only hold a +2 Goal Differential, drawing 2 games and winning their games with a 1 goal difference each time. This is not the dominant Holicz we’re used to seeing, but if they’re in the top 8 I’m sure they won’t mind.

7. Viva Futbol

Viva Futbol makes their return to ACL with 7 points in 4 with 9 goals scored and a solid win over Santa Muerte. This is a strong team and should easily make playoffs.

8. Santa Muerte

Completely even with CSD Agua Viva on points, goals scored, goals conceded and goal differential and even playing out to a 1-1 draw, Santa Muerte fall to 8th as a consequence of a loss to Viva Futbol and a weak strength of schedule. However, over the course of the season, somewhere in the 6-8 seed seems right.

9. Malditos Genios

After an incredible D2 Season last year which saw them go all the way to the D2 final, Malditos Genios see themselves in 9th place to start off the season, only 2 points off the pace. They are the only team in the bottom 8 with a positive goal differential and seem to be the only team that may steal a playoff spot by the seasons end.

10. San Sharti CF

Another new team to D1, San Sharti CF have only claimed 3 points, but do have a strong defense only conceding 5 goals in 4 games. However, 3 goals in 4 games is awful output and will need to be corrected fast before this season gets away from them.

11. No Name XI

I’m not sure how this team has 4 points with a -7 goal differential. From just surviving last season to being in 10th place is a major accomplishment no matter what happens the rest of the way.

12. LA United

A horrific start to the season for the former champions, sitting on one total point. This team is so much better on paper than what their record shows.

13. Mythic

Another team that is a part of the 5 team logjam on one point. 2 goals is abysmal, but 5 goals conceded does give them hope for the rest of the season.

14. Beangers

1 point on the season, 1 goal scored. This season might get away from Beangers quickly.

15. Vikings

1 point on the season, 1 goal scored, albeit with a worse defense than Beangers. Things have gone from good to bad to horrible for Vikings the past few seasons.

16. DANZ FC

Arguably the biggest shock in all of Division 1. DANZ went from one of the highest powered offenses in D2 to only scoring 2 goals and conceding 15. Not sure where this team goes from here.
