D1 East Playoff Predictions – Round 1
Prediction Record: 4-3
D1 East Prediction Record: 0-0
After 30 brutal games, D1 East begins the journey to the final and the Cash Prize. With plenty of drama on the final day, we finally have the final 8 teams. Who will make the D1 unified final and face off against the West Champ? A quick look at our qualifying teams below:
1.Envious – 71 points
2.Viva Futbol – 63 points
3.Holicz – 54 points
4.Ackerman FC – 53 points
5.NoHardFeelings – 52 points
6.Buona Notte – 49 points
7.Malditos Genios – 49 points
8.LA United – 48 points
Game 1: Envious (1) vs. LA United (8)
LA United snuck in on the final day after mounting an improbable run up the table in the final week. While they are on a hot streak, they come up against top-seeded Envious who have hardly been beaten all season. A battle of two great attacks here.
Prediction: Envious wins 5-2
Game 2: Viva Futbol (2) vs. Malditos Genios (7)
D1 newcomers Malditos Genios face off against Viva Futbol in a 2v7 matchup. While Malditos Genios have scored more goals, Viva Futbol have only allowed a ridiculous 23 goals, second best in Division 1 while having a comparable goalscoring output. Probably one of the matchups Maldios Genios didn’t want to see in Round 1.
Prediction: Viva Futbol wins 4-1
Game 3: Holicz (3) vs. Buona Notte (6)
Probably my favorite game of the round. Defensively sound Holicz takes on defensively sound Buona Notte. Neither team had great goalscoring output and this will be a slugfest and has the potential to go all the way down to the wire.
Prediction: Holicz wins 2-1 in 3 games
Game 4: Ackerman FC (4) vs. NoHardFeelings (5)
A slight regression from NoHardFeelings this season, but that doesn’t mean to take them lightly. This is a team that is more than capable of turning it on at any point and putting plenty of goals past you before you realize it’s too late. Ackerman come in on a bit of a cold streak, but may have had time to put it together during the Winter break.
Prediction: NoHardFeelings wins 6-3
