A new ACL Season is here! So much promise and one united goal in the minds of every team: win your respective division and become champions. There is arguably no more important day than the first day of the season. Who will get off on the right foot and be a pacesetter for a great season ahead?
D1 East
9:30pm – Envious v. Buona Notte
Two playoff teams from last season duke it out on the first day of the season in what could be a precursor to what comes ahead this season. Envious, the reigning champs, face off against a defensively stout Buona Notte looking to improve on their performance last season. Envious will look to not have any championship hangover as they look to start this season off.
Prediction: 2-2 Draw
10:00pm – Holicz v. Magic X
Former champs Holicz take on former west mainstays Magic X in an extremely important 2nd game of the season. For Holicz, this provides a golden opportunity to get their attack firing on all cylinders, while this serves as a great early season barometer for how Magic X will figure to compete in D1 East.
Prediction: Holicz wins 2-0
D1 West
9:30pm – Exile v. UserSlime
Kash makes his return to ACL against UserSlime, a new team in ACL. Win or lose, there will be plenty of entertaining moments along the way with ACL’s most infamous Mid CB.
Prediction: 3-3 Draw
10:00pm – Bazukazos v. Uncs FC
Two returning playoff teams return to West this season with a clear goal to win the division. With multiple teams leaving west, these are likely two of the best teams in the division. Expect plenty of goals to be scored with the offensive prowess these teams have.
Prediction: Uncs FC win 4-3
D2A
9:30pm – Big Ligas FC v. Olympique
This has to be the season Olympique gets over the hump and makes it to D1, right? The team that always starts out so well and then lands agonizingly short will have everything to prove against a new team, Big Ligas.
Prediction: Olympique wins 4-1
10:00pm – NY Bulls v. 06 Society FC
NY Bulls return for another season and face off against former West team 06 Society in what will be an important fixture for both teams to start off their season. 06 Society boasts a strong midfield and solid defense, making them a strong contender in D2.
Prediction: 06 Society FC wins 3-1
D2B
9:30pm – Inazuma Eagles v. La Mastilla
A repeat of a D3 playoff matchup last season, Inazuma Eagles and La Mastilla will square off as opponents in D2B this season. Expect La Mastilla to come out swinging offensively, while Inazuma Eagles rely on their defense to get results.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
10:00pm – Notorious XI v. FC Excel
Notorious XI are coming off a great season in D2, finishing 3rd in their division and will be excited to take another swing at getting promoted. Facing off against a new team in D2 should be a great opportunity for them to get started.
Prediction: Notorious wins 5-2
D3 – Given D3 are all new teams, this division will offer plenty of excitement in the first matches. Who will catch our eye for Thursday’s games of the week?
