Matches of the Day, Matches 7 and 8

As we close out the second full week of ACL, plenty of races are forming. From playoff spots for grabs, to teams still looking to get off the mark, there are plenty of entertaining matches on the slate for today. Let’s take a look at some of the best upcoming games in each division:

D1 East:

9:30pm – San Sharti CF vs DANZ FC

Two teams that are in desperate need of some points. Both teams have started slow and sit in 15th and 16th place. A win here could kick start their season while a loss could bury the season before it really even started.

Prediction: San Sharti wins 3-2

 

10:00pm – Holicz vs Santa Muerte

Santa Muerte have had an exceptional start to the season but face a true test against 6th placed Holicz. While Holicz hasn’t had the best start to the season, they always know how to find a way to turn it up against better opposition.

Prediction: Holicz wins 1-0

D1 West:

9:30pm – Sons of God vs Untouchables

Two playoff teams with Untouchables picking up 6 huge points on Thursday. Their attack is rounding into gear and are facing a reeling Sons of God team. Their defense could have serious problems against that Untouchables attack.

Prediction: Untouchables wins 4-2

 

10:00pm – Cracks Nation vs Bazukazos

1 against 2. It’s rare we get this type of matchup so early. Cracks are continuing their warpath with a perfect record and face Bazukazos who also have a stellar defense. While both teams have good goal scoring records, but expect this to be a defensive slugfest.

Prediction: Cracks wins 2-1

D2A East:

9:30pm – Hated Eleven vs Deportivo Lara

A game that could look like an early playoff match, Hated Eleven and Deportivo Lara square off with plenty on the line for table positioning. Both teams come in with the exact same goals scored, goals conceded and while Deportivo Lara may have 2 more points, Hated Eleven can’t be counted out due to their strength of schedule.

Prediction: 3-3 draw

 

10:00pm – Olympique vs GG United

Two former playoff teams who couldn’t have had a more dissimilar start to the season. While Olympique are pummeling teams and sit on 2nd on goal differential, GG United have had a nightmare start to the season and find themselves in 12th, albeit only 3 points out of a playoff spot. This game would be huge for GG United to pick up some form and inspire confidence across the team to keep picking up results.

Prediction: Olympique wins 2-0

D2B East:

9:30pm – Renegade vs New Era FC

New Era have been rounding into form while Renegade continue to punish teams defensively, leading the table on both points and Goals conceded. While they haven’t scored a ton of goals, Renegade is doing plenty to get over the line during games while New Era could use a little more cutting edge to turn draws into wins. Expect this one to be low scoring.

Prediction: Renegade wins 1-0

 

10:00pm – Los Del Sol vs Fearless XI

An interesting matchup here, with Los Del Sol leading the league in goals and in 5th, while Fearless XI have one of the worst defenses in the league and are tied on points to the 8th seed. However, Fearless XI also have one of the better attacks in the league, while Los Del Sol have been poor defensively. Two good attacking teams with bad defenses should mean plenty of goals scored.

Prediction: Los Del Sol wins 5-3

 

D3 East:

9:30pm – Inazuma Eagles vs La Mastilla

The best defense in the league takes on the best attack in the league. While La Mastilla’s attacking output has been incredible with 22 goals across 6 games, Inazuma Eagles have only conceded 4 goals across 6 games. Both teams find themselves in the top 4, and this game will prove how truly good each of these teams are.

Prediction: La Mastilla wins 2-1

 

10:00pm – America Titans vs Inazuma Eagles

Double duty for Inazuma Eagles tonight as they face another top 3 team in America Titans. Similar to La Mastilla, America Titans have an outstanding attack, scoring a top-3 best 16 goals in 6 games. A win and a result or two their way could also put them top of the table, so a result here will have huge implications. For Inazuma Eagles, can they stay defensively focused enough to get back to back results tonight?

Prediction: 0-0 draw
